IMO. Quick rebuild as Magic Gorton will swing for the fence(s). We want to compete with young team in 19/20. Need a couple of game breakers somehow, either by trade and/or ufa. Doughty, Karlsson, Seguin, Wheeler... All about speed and tenacity. I love Hayes but his style of "floating with the puck and looking for beautiful pass" is now extinct. Look at WPG and VGK, attack, attack, attack!!! GLAD we restocked the cupboard at tdl or it would have been a LONG few years here, MTL did nothing at tdl and now they are screwed!!! Trade chips; Zucc, Spooner and picks. Also; ADa and VN. Maybe; Hayes, Kreider, Zib and Vesey. Would like early picks next year, apparently it's loaded with many Toronto area studs. <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>phillyjabroni</b></div><div>Dan Giradri is more than 2 standard deviations away in Shots Suppressed from 2015-2017. He is in a section of less than 2.1% of the league, and not in the good way.
When anyone compares NHL players, it is understood that they are comparing them relative to other NHL players. To give an example of what you are doing, Zach Rinaldo is not skilled with handling the puck. Compared to the 4th line of a USHL player, Rinaldo is "good" in terms of handling the puck. Zach Rinaldo is not skilled with handling the puck. Compared to Patrick Kane, Rinaldo is trash, in terms of handling the puck. The constant? <strong>Zach Rinaldo is not skilled with handling the puck</strong>.
Getting to the point of Suppressing Shots, according to data from ownthepuck, his Shot Suppressed / 60 minutes is >1. This means that during the game, he will not prevent shots from being taken. If you can refute this point with evidence that would offset this poor play, please do so. Otherwise, don't proclaim that Dan Girardi is a good NHL player.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I think I know the reason for the why RAIF defends Girardi so much. When RAIF changes his name to RangersandLightningFan we have have proof that RAIF is actually Dan Girardi.
But seriously we often criticize players for "not playing up their contracts." But can you really blame the player when the owner/GM offers a player way too much money or term. For instance why blame Clarkson for accepting 5.25 X 7 from the Leafs, or Phaneuf's. 7 X 7 from the Leafs, or Kessel's 8 X 8 from the Leafs. Is there a theme here?
I don't that much of Vlasic of the Sharks, but why did the Sharks offered him 7m X 8 years that pays Vlasic till he's 40 years of age. The madness seems to continue.
RAIF. I play RHD. Dan Girardi and me are fair comparisons. So anytime he wants to join me and my friends on Tuesday/Thursday afternoons at the local rink....let's see how he compares to THIS 63 year old.:)</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DoctorBreakfast</b></div><div>For the billionth time, <strong>WHEN COMPARED TO OTHER NHL PLAYERS DAN GIRARDI IS NOT GOOD. WE ARE NOT COMPARING HIM TO YOU, ME, OR ANY OTHER PERSON ON THIS SITE. YOU HAVE TO USE PEER-TO-PEER COMPARISONS, NOT NHL PLAYER-TO-INTERNET TROLL COMPARISONS.</strong></div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krakowitz</b></div><div>Nobody is saying he isn't a good player compared to me and you. But when you compare him to every other defenseman in the NHL, he's one of the worst. There's no other way to put it.</div></div>
AND EVERYONE ELSE... STEVIE Y AND TBL DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HEAVY, FORT GUARDING, MINUTE MUNCHING, EXPERIENCED D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Slow, yet Smart enough to know gap control and positioning! Certainly could have helped YOUR TEAMS, NYR also!!! End of story............
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>Are you trolling here???
Pacioretty is a very good player - everyone knows that. He is also in need of a new contract...one that will probably get him $6million a year for 4-6 years. All reasonable things...except for the fact that he is almost 30 and coming off a season where injuries started creeping in. All of these things - the age, the new contract, the injuries, plus the position he plays are the LAST things the Wild need. I like Byron, and would be interested in him in a different scenario, but Schlemko and Shaw??? No way. No how.
The ONLY players on the Habs I would be interested in are Gallagher, Juulsen, Lindgren, and Byron. You can keep the rest of those malcontents and bad contracts and thank your GM for creating one of the worst rosters in Canadiens history!</div></div>
Ditto from all other fan bases. No thank you. Same low or negative values offered everywhere, everyday for value! I know it's discouraging and no fun, but MTL has next to none trade chips. Nice try, but try playing opposite gm before embarrassing yourselves and driving others crazy.
So... Canes best d and soon to be best f for stuff. Steel for 1 year of downhill patch, or even worse resigning patch to 5x5.5m ish! The same reason you wouldn't want to resign him, quiet, invisible, non aggressive and too slow for new NHL. Now if time was going backwards!... If you're their gm you would take those offers? MTL missed the boat at tdl when teams anti up. Now your players are at all time low, no prospects, Big contracts, Byron and Shaw out. Tank or sink time, really! NYR jumped ship just in time, not done yet and restocked cupboard. Patch and Zucc were not offered for great package, simple as that, and I love Zucc. Dgmw I would love MTL to be relevant soon. Could be a while. But all these trades for studs by hab fans are like a desperate date really. <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ScottRoth</b></div><div>Namestikov had 4 points in 19 games with the rangers and outside of handing the puck to two of the best forwards in the world he has never produced anywhere near a top 6 level. Ryan Spooner is a solid PP guy who has offensive ability but is a liability in the defensive zone.</div></div>
Most fans underestimate Nmstnkv worth. He a known valuable commodity. Sound, smart, reliable, dependable, former 1st rounder for a reason. He knows how to play with good players which is the reason he struggled here. That, and it was his first move/trade, not unusual, a la E Staal NYR situation. He'll get paid long term, not bridge, to a decent contract 6x4-5m ish. Cause it's well known he's worth it. Maybe not here as a leader, preferably as a complimentary player on a contender. TBL did it to get JTM. Spooner has offensive potential and also has some value. Not this lowball offer.
